What Is Microneedling?

SkinPen by Bellus Medical is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It works by creating thousands of tiny micro-penetrations through the outer dermal layer. This stimulates your body’s natural healing process by increasing blood flow, aiding in cellular turnover, and creating regrowth of dermal tissue and blood vessels.

It is also known as collagen induction therapy, and in simplified terms is based on the concept that our skin will naturally repair itself when injured. Utilizing this effect it has a profound effect on your skin’s appearance, dramatically changing scar tissue and damaged areas.

With as few as three non-invasive and affordable treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance and have the smooth skin you have always wanted.

The Procedure

After identifying the areas of treatment, our Aesthetician will begin by gently cleansing the problem areas.

Our Aesthetician will then begin the process of moving the Skin Pen over the identified area in slow consistent patterns. Through visual inspection each area will be treated until the desired even effect is achieved. Once the process is complete an appropriate treatment serum is applied or your own PRP can be used to enhance results even more.

The typical treatment last about 45 minutes (unless additional areas are requested) and has minimal discomfort.

Topical numbing is applied prior to treatment so the treatment is very comfortable. In the first few days after treatment the skin may look red and feel like a mild sunburn with dryness and flaking. Appropriate home post-care and protection from sun will help you speed through this process and optimize results.

It really just depends on the severity of the issue. 3 treatments is common with noticeable effects being seen after each treatment.

Depending on the number and size of the areas being treated, the whole process typically takes around 45 minutes.
