Gynecology has taken a new and exciting turn with the development of energy-based devices that rejuvenate the vagina with minimal downtime and no surgery.
Rejuvenating Treatment
DiVa is the only vaginal rejuvenation procedure that uses a hybrid fractional laser, the same technology used in the Halo laser to produce remarkable antiaging effects of the face, neck and chest.
Also unique to the diVa is that the treatment settings on the two lasers are adjustable so that each patient can receive a treatment that customized to her starting condition.
What’s It Like?
Remarkably, the diVa vaginal rejuvenation treatment that takes about 7 minutes to complete after the application of a topical anesthetic. Most women experience minimal or no discomfort during treatment. Another unique feature of the diVa is how automated the treatment is. The laser is placed inside a hygienic one-time use glass tube, and the laser spirals out of the glass tube, evenly treating the vaginal walls in a quick yet thorough manner.
The number of treatments recommended varies depending on the age and condition of the vaginal tissue prior to treatment but results can be seen by some women after one treatment, whereas others may require three treatments scheduled about a month apart to achieve desired results.
The ResultS
Treatment with the diVa laser rejuvenates the vagina leading to an improvement in vaginal moisture and lubrication. The diVa doesn’t use any hormones so is an excellent and effective treatment option for women who have had breast cancer or other estrogen dependent tumors who may not be candidates for using estrogen to treat vaginal atrophy.
The diVa laser is an effective treatment of vaginal laxity as it thickens the vaginal skin and also increases the amount of supporting elastin and collagen. Women often report after treatment an improvement in experience during sexual intercourse for themselves and for their partner.
The diVa can also help reduce stress urinary incontinence (SUI) where urine leakage occurs with laughing, coughing, sneezing, and exercise. SUI can really diminish a woman’s self-confidence and limit her desire to be physically active or even be intimate with their partner. Often times the urine leakage may be too mild to treat with surgery. Now with the diVa, there is a minimally invasive treatment option. The diVa can be an effective stand alone treatment but results can often be further augmented with the O-Shot using a patient’s own platelet rich plasma (PRP) to further rejuvenate the vaginal tissues which support the urethra.
FAQs
Changes in the vaginal wall are inevitable as a result of childbirth, aging, and hormonal changes of menopause. Vaginal dryness (lack of lubrication) is a common occurrence after childbirth and breastfeeding, as well as a common symptom in menopause. The decrease in the amount of estrogen leads to thinning of the vaginal walls which can lead to painful intercourse.
Vaginal laxity occurs during the stretching of the vagina during childbirth. The vaginal canal becomes “looser.” The problem is worsened through further thinning of the vaginal skin due to changes brought about by menopause. Laxity differs from pelvic prolapse where there is actual protrusion of the vaginal tissue or pelvic organs.
You may observe improvement after a single session. The results will typically depend on the severity of the issue. Some patients need 3 treatments over a 3 month period to reach optimal results.
